The study aims to evaluate the phytochemical screening and free radical scavenging activity of ethanolic extract of Saracaindica bark. The 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay was used to determine antioxidant properties of Saracaindica by measuring the absorbance at 517 nm. Saracaindica bark and α-tocopherol strongly scavenged DPPH radical in dose-dependent manner. IC50 value for α-tocopherol and Saracaindica bark was found to be 70.97 and 160.34 µg/ml respectively. The results showed that Saracaindica bark exhibited strong antioxidant potential with the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, polyphenols and steroids.
